Feeling 3:
Today I feel… a Christmas vibe
onesie pajamas. hot chocolate. family. excitement. tito’s. cranberry. soda water. love. peace. happiness. temptations, jackson 5 and boys to men Christmas albums in rotation. What a time (THIS IS STILL THE VIBES BTW).
as you can see in the picture I chose to highlight my favorite and nostalgic Christmas movies. this time of the year has always been my favorite, ask my friends, they call me lame/cheesy because i’m so festive.
but let me make one thing clear, 2000s Christmas has nothing on 90s Christmas. Times were so much lighter and carefree.
Movies shown in picart:
1. Madeas Christmas (the play) - this movie brings back fun and memorable moments. I was in my first apartment, i PLAYED THIS MOVIE FROM oCTOBER TO dECEMBER. i HAD A 6FT TREE WITH A TACKY ASS RED SKIRT AROUND THE BOTTOM. FUN FACT i KEPT MY TREE UP YEAR-ROUND (JUDGE YA MOMMA), IT’S GREAT DECOR. ME AND MY FRIENDS CAN STILL, TO THIS DAY, RECITE THIS MOVIE WORD FOR WORD.
2. Lapoon’s Christmas Vacation - this is an amazing movie, the dry humor takes me out every time. I guess I love it so much because it reminds me of my family. my dad likes to think he can fix anything but the reality is, it makes more of a mess (gotta love him). And then there’s my mom, just like the wife in the movie, always worrying. I love when both sides of the family come together to share one living space. something about the closeness and togetherness that gives me so much joy.
3. This Christmas - also, another movie where a family is sharing a living space for the holidays. I just love family and togetherness (until I get annoyed, which happens pretty quick). and not for nothing, this movie definitely give soul food vibes and who doesn’t love that movie?!
4. How The Grinch Stole Christmas - Who doesn’t love this movie?! I love the hustle and bustle of the small town. how everyone works together to celebrate Christmas. the setting of the town is so pretty and majestic.
5. home alone - a true mothafuckin’ classic! this movie i can relate to on many levels. being a bad ass child is so fun to watch. while also wishing your parents had a whole bunch of kids so your household would always be on 10 like theirs. this movie just sets the entire tone for the holidays.
favorite christmas memory: My fondest Chrismas memory is of me and my family, riding to Lake Lanier to see the “yites” (momma says that’s how I use to say lights). I know you say “why the hell y’all go to lake lanier? NO ONE COMEs OUT ALIVE!” cHILE, IT’S A HUGE PARK WITH ANIMATED LIGHTS and NO DEALINGS WITH WATER. THAT TRIP WAS ALWAYS SO MUCH FUN, BUNDLED UP IN THE BACK SEATS OF MY MOMS NAVIGATOR, WATCHING MOVIES on her PULL DOWN SCREEN. good times.
FUNNY Christmas STORY: MY DAD ALWAYS TELLS THIS STORY. AS A CHILD, MY PARENTS LITERALLY GOT ME EVERYTHING i WANTED FOR cHRISTMAS. IN MY YOUNGER YEARS MY MOM HAD THIS ANNUAL REDESIGN OF MY ROOM (IT WAS CONSIDERED ON OF MY PRESENTS). mY DAD ON THE OTHER HAND, ALWAYS WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND WITH TOYS. mY DAD BEGAN TO NOTICE YEAR AFTER YEAR, i PAID THE TOYS NO ATTENTION BUT WAS ecstatic ABOUT MY redesigned ROOM! I think HE KNEW i WAS a bit “DIFFERENT.”
i ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS WAS HILARIOUS! MY ASS LOVED décor AND CLOTHES (STILL DO) OPPOSED TO TOYS. JUST GAY AND i LOVE IT.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my nostalgic Christmas memories.
happy holidays!
